Last night was the first eviction show of the season and was as such, a sad one. The first group of 10 contestants had performed popular songs for your votes on last week’s show and after a week of voting, the results were in ad the tension on the result show was palpable.
From last week’s show, Yinka and Jeffery liked a number of their performances and new judge, Naeto C had a few constructive critics for some of the contestants that perhaps, terrified them a little.
However, the show tonight revealed which contestants got it right and which didn’t. Without wasting much time, host Ill Rymz got to the business at hand. First, we were reminded in short clips their last week’s performance and some of the judges’ comments shortly before a representative from Alexandra Forbes handed him a sealed envelope consisting of the results.
Contestant by contestant, Ill Rymz, called out their names and asked those who didn’t qualify to get off the stage until there were only three contestants left that shocked the judges, audience and perhaps the viewers.
The three that crossed to the next round and have secured themselves a space on the Top 12 were Debbie Rise, who fell in joy, Vicci who was adequately shocked and lastly, Safeeyat. Other contestants such as Mr Byno who is a second time Nigerian Idol contestant didn’t make it were a looked a little disappointed.
The judges congratulated them and urged people to vote more in the coming shows in order to see results they desired.
